Seattle BI Meetup: Data Mining Meets Engineering

Our Data & Analytics Director Wendy Parker is co-teaching a Data Mining course at the University of Washington. She recently invited Lucas Parker of Visible Technologies to speak to the class regarding how they use data mining.  In data mining, the focus is often on how models are created rather than how they are used in the real world.  We greatly appreciated Lucas’ discussion of his experience putting models to use and some of the interesting findings he made along the way.

Lucas Parker will be sharing this presentation with the larger Seattle community Wednesday,  June 4th at the Seattle BI Meetup, a professional meetup for those seeking to learn about BI technologies, techniques, and methodologies. This event will run from 5:30 to 8pm at Big Fish Games and will include a Meet & Greet (with pizza), the presentation by Lucas followed by a Q&A, and time for further networking. Read more and RSVP here!

If you’re unable to attend the meetup, Lucas has a recent blog post entitled Data Mining Engineering Part 1 that is a great summary of his presentation at UW.
